Project Overview:

We're posting the content from the public open house held on March 11 at 5:30 PM at First United Methodist Church. During this event, we collected input on key topics important to the future of Old Town Pearland, including vision & values, land use, placemaking, mobility, and infrastructure--but most importantly, five BIG IDEAS.

The design team analyzed the input and, together with existing conditions assessments, developed big ideas and concepts for key destinations in Old Town Pearland.

Now we need your input! Please scroll through the various maps, questions, and concepts. Your feedback is crucial as we move forward with refinement and developing the action plan.

Next Steps:

Once we gather feedback from you and others in the community, the project team will refine the ideas and develop an action plan to make this Plan a reality. Your comments today will help guide those next steps, so please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts.

Thank you for participating!

We desperately need street lights. It seems like “old town “ is being neglected.

Idea
Better location for large event center, more room to build and parking. Further from tracks.
replies
Idea
One way pair with Broadway
replies
Idea
Maybe "Pearland Central District", or "Pearland Historic District" or "Pearland Historical Market District" anything but changing Broadway to Main

ALSO.... we need to keep the original branding that was adopted and approved by the citizens and other committees many years ago and the signs now entail. No need to rebrand yet again! It's a slap in the face to those that put in the time and work over the last 30 years to see this come to fruition!

Idea
Just call it "downtown Pearland" or "Pearland Downtown District" and include all the "areas". It's a shame that the words "pearland town center" is taken, as it would fit well now with this.
replies
Idea
Make it one way pair with Walnut!
replies
Idea
NO to new Main Street!!!!!!!!!!
replies
Idea
Turn RR depot into Historical Museum as it should have been!
replies
Idea
Still think event center may be an issue with RR noise
replies
Idea
Maybe call it the "Grand Area of Pearland"
replies
Idea
Do NOT like the idea of changing Broadway to Main!!!! VERY BAD.... just leave it! You can still use the existing Main as the OLD TOWN MAIN and market Broadway as a show stopper!
replies
Idea
THis area should be where CVB and Historical Society maybe as well. People go to Post office anyway, maybe it would encourage some to stop in and it would be a central area for government related items
replies
Idea
Still like one-way split with Walnut
replies
Idea
Just build a parking garage, maybe 2 story and charge to park. Most people don't mind. I pay almost everywhere i go. Maybe make it free for certain events or HC, etc.

Idea
This should be built with PEARLAND community as a priority, not a destination place. We need to stop thinking of it as a destination place. Pearland will never be that. We are however event centric and can do many small 1 day events that garner locals to the area.

I know this negates the CVB, but being creative could still work
replies
Idea
Near RR is not the best place for an EVENT center. Offices mabe or programming that allows things to be stopped as trains go by. Approx 22 trains a day go by and this would disrupt a wedding for example.
replies
Idea
Great place to place event center and or offices like CVB and Historical Society. COP should acquire the land directly behind ACE and widen this area.
replies
Idea
It would be better if this were to be included in a new Historical Society building so staffing could be shared. CVB should be very verse in the city's history anyway in order to "sell" Pearland's activities.

Not so sure these buildings should be near RR for couple of reasons. 1) safety and 2) noise. ... trains don't always follow "no blow" rules and having a wedding in the center could be a disaster
replies
Typo
Should be Brazoria County.... not Brazos
replies
Idea
On MC24 nad 25, its "sounds good" but is not practical. People should be allowed to park nearest the front door, and so should their guests and service people. On MC26 - the City should not be in the EV charging station business.

Idea
Bike lanes are a good idea, but bike safety education would go a long way to helping the present situation. I see many ADULT bike riders, going contrary to the traffic flow; also just cruising down the center turning lane. And many have no bike lighting when riding after dark.
replies
Idea
A pedestrian RR crossing is a good idea, if you can make it attractive, not a hurricane fencing tube/ cage. A tunnel would be a poor choice, as I feel it would encourage graffiti.
replies
Idea
Tree planting is good, but please no trees in planter boxes. Also, make sure the trees are not planted directly under the power lines. ( like on North Main)
replies
Idea
you neglected "living" in OLD Town. Many long time Pearland residence live in this area
replies
Idea
I'd also love to see new affordable small single-family homes in Old Town - all the plans are great, but young families will be needed to help revitalize the area!
replies
Idea
Love the idea of the train depot in Old Town
replies
All this looks great but if the city does not begin to develop or enforce come type of residential property condition enforcement I cannot see business wanting to invest in the area. There are areas too numerous to pinpoint with obvious health hazards due to the amount of trash, both large and small items, that impact the visual and actual quality of life in this area.

Love the idea of more/better sidewalks!
replies
Idea
Walnut expansion would need to happen well before the narrowing of Broadway, right?
replies
Question
Any more detail on the flex residentual?
replies
Idea
I love the landscaped median idea, but not at the expense of whole lanes of traffic.
replies
Idea
Putting a 4-way stop on Broadway at Grand? I think it should be a traffic light or nothing. I believe a 4-way stop would be very dangerous here.
replies
Question
Are the photos supposed to represent what's coming to Pearland? They don't represent what's currently in this space.
replies
Idea
I live on N Grand Blvd
replies
Question
This is currently just green space. Will you add parking, playground, or anything else to increase use?
